I tried peeling them off with tape, and rolling them off with lint rollers. These only removed a few superficial lints- the stubborn pills remained. I tried using a vacuum shaver. The shaver worked on some types of fabric but not others, but left holes in all of them. Resigned to buying a new wardrobe, I brought the SWEATER STONE not really expecting anything. To my delight, it actually works! I would not say my clothes look like new, but they look much better. Be warned, though, if your garments are full of pills, or if you are very particular in wanting to remove as many of the pills as possible, shaving with the sweater shaver can awhile. I sometimes spend a couple of hours with one very pilly shirt. But this is still far less than the time it would... After moving away from home, I missed hers so much I am buying my own. Just gently rub it across the surface of pilled fabric, and it restores a smooth newer look. This works much better than any sweater shavers I've tried and will last for years with no batteries required. Consumer Reports also gave it a "Best Buy" rating. I will add that it does have a slight odd odor while you use it, but that does not affect the clothes. You also will want to use a lint roller to collect pills and lint once you're done. I've had one synthetic stretchy sweater it didn't work on, but it's been great on most things, including pilly sheets. The machine functions noticeably better if the included ice molds are used. Ice cubes work, but they take much longer to shave down and you will get chunkier shavings (which do not hold the flavor as well). When using the ice molds, make sure to let the ice block sit out for five to ten minutes before shaving ("tempering"), and you will end up with icy shavings closer to a snow texture. The included syrups are tasty, sugary and perfect for drizzling over your shaved ice. I would recommend refrigerating your flavors, even though you don't have to, to slow down how fast they melt the shave ice. The other accessories are fun and would be great for a party, but I think reusable cone cups would be a better solution for day to day snacking. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. After comparing pricing, and features on many sites I found this to be the best fit. If you are looking for a fast way to crank out a cool treat in just a few minutes this is the thing for you. I wouldn't suggest this for heavy use as it looks like the shaving blade will eventually wear down. This is perfect for a small family. It includes a set of two plastic round containers that need to be simply filled with water and frozen. You then insert one into the top and place the cover on and press down. I love that I don't have to spend the energy or time to hand crank the ice. I also love that this set included everything we needed to get stared. After a quick wash, we where enjoying sno-cones within 5 minutes! I have seen many other options in the electric range but none at such a great price! Fortunately, this snow cone machine works well and is exactly what I was looking for. Operating the machine is simple - load ice into the machine, put the lid on and firmly press down to get shaved ice. Inside the machine is just a single blade at the bottom with a narrow slit for the shaved ice to fall through. Inside the lid is a metal plate that spins whenever you press the button on top of the lid. This metal plate is supposed to spin the ice inside the machine while you apply pressure down on the ice so that the blade can shave it thus giving you a snow cone. I have never had much luck with electric shavers and in the past and I've been through a few. Before this product I have had to use a combination of a razor and hair clippers for my face. This, with its dual clippers and foil does a awesome job even after a weeks growth of facial hair. Very, very impressed. The nose hair trimmer is good, I wouldn't say amazing, but it's definitely the best I've ever tried. It does certainly get the job done. A little ticklish though but no pulling whatsoever. I have been using a Phillips Norelco Arcitec that is until I received this product. After getting it out of the packaging and trying it I have started to use this more so than the other razor that I have (the Arcitec). The razor does vibrate very strongly, but it is not bothersome to me. It comes with a nice pouch to hold all the items and the razor. I like how after a day or two of having not shaved the Trimmer/Shaver Foil takes care of the long stubble with out any hair pulling or pinching. Though it says you can use it in the shower I have not done so yet. The shaver looks very well put together and seems very sturdy. I like that it has an attachment directly on the body of the shaver to plug in the charger as opposed to having to put the shaver in a base station to charge it.
